Infrascale Cloud Backup Free Trial
Setting up a backup (Windows)
- You can download the software by going to Endpoint Backup > Downloads. Select Backup Agent for Windows (.exe).
- Run the installation package and follow the instructions of the installation wizard.
- Log in to the software with the backup account created on the dashboard.
- The first time you log in, you will be asked to set the security level of the account.
It is recommended to pick “Regular Account” for this trial unless you have specific compliance needs. For more information regarding these security settings, please visit https://docs.infrascale.com/cb/specification#data-encryption-and-account-types
- Once you have set the account type, you can start configuring a backup. Click on Configure next to File and Folder Backup.
- The system will attempt to scan your machine for files by extensions and provide a rough estimate on what to back up. This option works well if you have no idea what data you are looking to protect. However, if you wish to select the folders you wish to protect manually, it is strongly recommended to select “do not scan” and click next and you will be able to select the files/folders manually.
- After selecting next you will be able to see what files the auto-scanner selected, and you can manually select files/folders that you wish to back up by using the left-hand menu. For your convenience, we have provided quick access to the “desktop”, “favorites”, “documents”, and “pictures” folders that will select the associated folders for the Windows user account you are logged into. Once you have selected the files and folders you wish to back up. Select next to go to the next section.
- On the next page, you will be able to set scheduling, retention, and reporting. You can additionally set the backup to go to a local location. Once you have finished configuring these settings, select Finish to complete the backup configuration.
Scheduling options:
Back up at the end of this wizard – This will cause a backup to run as soon as you select Finish.
Back up automatically without user intervention – This will allow you to set an automatic schedule for the backup. You can set hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly.
Back up even when the Windows user is not logged on – This option allows the backup to run when you are not logged into the specific user account. This option is strongly recommended, and you will need to enter in your Windows account credentials as soon as you select it.
Retention Options:
Delete files from the cloud if they are not changed on the local computer for X days – This policy is designed for files with no long-term value and should only be used for files that only need to be available for recovery for the number of days you specify.
Delete files from the cloud if they are deleted from the local computer, after X days – This policy is designed for keeping cloud usage low by removing files that have been deleted from the local computer after the specified amount of time. This is the recommended retention policy.
