Eliminating Burdens – How One Successful MSP Tackles Disaster Recovery

Visibility Enables Integration Ease

Chris asked Cory what the biggest challenge his customers face specific to disaster recovery. Cory replied, “For me, technology is all about visibility. Especially when you’re working on disparate systems and you’re jumping into an environment that you often don’t have much familiarity with as an MSP. Infrascale has been great from that perspective, because we can walk in and pretty much fit that into any solution set, or any existing network.”

Critical Insights without Burdensome Monitoring

As customers become more reliant on information technology, it’s essential that they monitor the SaaS applications and that support their business, to ensure that they are available and performing well. Unfortunately, many IT organizations find their resources stretched by the need to manage multiple, non-integrated monitoring tools. Simpatico eases this burden by leveraging Infrascale’s single-pane-of-glass management dashboard to operate, manage, and monitor their Infrascale Backup & Disaster Recovery (IBDR) solution. Cory said, “Having a large customer set means there’s a lot of data. We don’t want to have dedicated technicians that must watch the data all the time. And so, some of the automation and tool sets available in the portal and being able to get alerts sent directly to our help desk has been great.”

Recovering from Disasters

Whether server downtime is caused by cyberattack or natural disaster, the costs are just as high. According to Gartner, the average cost of downtime across all industry sectors is $5,600 per minute. That is around $300,000 per hour! “Unfortunately, we do have to rely on this technology pretty frequently. We recently had an issue with a manufacturing company. Without access to their ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, their downtime per hour is huge. We were able to restore those solutions on premise directly from their appliance and have them up and running within an hour or two,” said Cory.

Where Should DR be Deployed? Everywhere!

A common question that arises is where to deploy a, Infrascale Backup and Disaster Recovery (IBDR) type solution.  Cory remarked, “The easy answer is everywhere. I feel like we need to make sure that our customers have good backup and disaster recovery. Deploying disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) through the IBDR platform has been huge for us.” The IBDR solution ensures that their customers’ data is always protected and always available.

In times of uncertainty IT professionals need reassurance that their data is protected. They know that operations can grind to a halt when natural disaster, employee error, or ransomware attacks occur. “We’ve seen ransomware attacks and events that cause a level of concern for a lot of our small and medium sized customers. It’s important to have a solution that we have confidence in and is rock solid, where we know that we can restore our customers’ data.” said Cory.
