Malwarebytes Releases Secure Data Backup Service Powered by Infrascale’s SOS Online Backup Application

Malwarebytes has selected Infrascale as its online backup technology partner.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (May 7, 2013) Malwarebytes Secure Backup was released today after a successful beta-trial, is the first online backup service that automatically scans files for malware prior to backup, removing the threat of saving or sharing infected files. In addition to protecting files on their PCs, users can also securely back up files on their mobile devices through Malwarebytes Secure Backup for Android and iOS. With Malwarebytes Secure Backup, users can be confident that even if their devices are lost or damaged they still have access to a clean backup and can retrieve important files.

“Most people think secure backup solutions like Carbonite or Mozy can be a cure for a compromised machine after they have trouble,” said Marcin Kleczynski, founder and CEO of Malwarebytes. “The fact is, backups should be done when the machine is not infected, since restoring infected data will just re-establish the malware, and render the backup useless. The malware must be removed before backup.”

The partnership between Malwarebytes and Infrascale is a unique, yet logical one. Both firms aim to provide customers the greatest sense of security regarding the protection of their data against malware and other disasters. Ken Shaw, CEO of Infrascale said, “anyone who has had a computer succumb to the damage of malware still carries the nasty memory of knowing they had to completely wipe their hard drive clean. Starting over with a clean backup, guaranteed to be malware-free, is the ideal method of recovery.”

Unlike most backup services, Malwarebytes Secure Backup allows users to back up as many devices and drives as they want using a single license. Through the Secure Backup Web management portal, users can access or download their files from any Web browser and share clean files with others by simply sending a URL to the cloud-hosted file.

For ultimate safe-keeping, all data is transmitted using military-grade encryption and stored within a U.S.-based SSAE 16 (SOC 1) certified data center. Users can use the UltraSafe feature to create a custom encryption key to ensure that no one else can access their data.

Malwarebytes Secure Backup supports Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, iOS and Android platforms. There are 100GB ($59.95 per year), 200GB ($119.95 per year) or 500GB ($299.95 per year) packages available.
